Q: What is the longest book you’ve read? What are your favorite 600+ page reads?

Eragon by Paolini. It's a compilation of Eragon and Eldest, leading to more than 1000 pages. Brisigr is 1000 pages plus and I'm still reading it. Everyone should read the Inheritance series, it's one of the best. Any self respecting YA paranormal fanatic would say last book of Vampire Academy, Last Sacrifice(my review here), and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series is highly recommended.

Today's feature:Oh! For the Love of Books!

Q: What book would you love to see made into a movie or television show and do you have actors/actresses in mind to play the main characters?

Since The Hunger Games was made into a movie, The House of Night series is too long, I would like to recommend a recently new found gem to be made into a movie.

The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater. The special effects would be awesome. And I googled some casts:

Below are the casts for Sean Kendrick and Kate "Puck" Connolly.

Cameron Bright: his hair's dark enough
Alexander Ludwig: He's cute, and all he has to do is dye his hair.
 Dakota Fanning : near perfect
Emma Roberts: a little old, I know, but she's great talent.
Josh Hutcherson: Cute and aloof. Enough for ya'll?
Molly C.Quinn:  I love her acting in Castle and she is a redhead already.
Deborah Ann Woll: she's beautiful, though a little old.
Gaspard Ulliel: dark, tall, handsome, piercing eyes. Need I say more?

Q: Activity!!! Take a picture or describe where you love to read the most...

Anywhere, I guess? I could spend hours reading on my bed, in the couch, at my dining table, and even on my toilet sit(seriously, I'm not kidding) or on the bathroom floor. I just read whenever the mood strikes and will continue to read when the story engages me. The result is my mother's screams at me when I stay in the bathroom for more than an hour. Hehe.

Read my favorite book until I get tired of it. If it's your favorite, you should not get tired of it easily. And why read a lot of books you don't like if you can't read your favorite? Life is too short for that.

Q: Define what characteristics your favorite books share. Do they all have a kickass heroine or is the hot love interest the Alpha Male?

Kickass heroines? Not quite, since Carmen is not so much a kickass heroine as Rose . Neither is Lena or Mara. Hot love interests? Dimitri, Jeremy King, Patch, Four and Gale are hot, but not the one in A Blue So Dark and Incarceron. Story or plot? Perhaps. The novels I love such as The Hunger Games and Vampire Academy has amazing story and relatable characters. Notice that even since it's more than few years since The Hunger Games and Vampire Academy were published, people are still talking about them, and fans still get hyper at any mention of the series. These are the titles I hope to read and love.

Review: SHIVER by Maggie Stiefvater

Grace has been watching the wolf with yellow eyes in her backyard in the winter for years. She knows that he was protecting her, watching her. One chilling winter night, an injured boy, Sam, appears naked on her back porch, bleeding his life out. She helps him inside the house and called the police. Coincidentally, Sam has the same peculiar yellow eyes as her wolf. Instantly, Grace knows that Sam is the wolf that has been watching her all these years, and she knows that her fate is a future with him, even when it meant losing him to the cold every winter.

Long story short, Shiver is a beautiful novel with lovable characters and hypnotizing plot. You'll be swept away by Stiefvater's story almost immediately.

Of course, the characters are to love. Grace, a serious, independent and logical girl is paired with romantic, musically-talented Sam. Their relationship is surprisingly realistic and both of them are highly contrasted. And, I think Sam is just so sweet, he might be my newest book boyfriend(he's the sweetest I'd ever chanced upon!).

Last year I'd read a novel-series actually- with alternating point of view(read my review of The Dark by Marianne Curley here) I felt confused when the point of view was changed. Okay, the narrator was stated at the beginning of the chapter, but I just couldn't feel the voice. With Shiver, I just know when Grace or Sam is talking. No confusion at all.

And the story, oh the story! It was so enchanting and real. Stiefvater created a new world of werewolves and the weather at Mercy Falls just suited the novel perfectly. It was completely different from the regular novels about werewolves, in a good way.

Despite my love of the voice and the plot, I didn't love Stiefvater's writing. It wasn't that her writing was bad, it's just that it wasn't beautiful enough for me. Yes, her writing bordered on lyrical but it just wasn't enough.

Shiver is a mesmerizing novel of werewolves and forbidden love, lithe and clean, impossible to resist.

Ratings: 4 stars

And the winner is : Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games(my review here). Too many boys crying for my attention, so a settle for a female instead. And I would serve my momma's spaghetti bolognese. Bet she's never had that before. What? It's delicious, I love it, plus I can't cook. Katniss, could you teach me how to strung an arrow or kiss, I dunno, Gale?

Q. Let's step away from besties...What is the worst book that you've ever read and actually finished?

Not that I actually read any book that was so unbearable, but the book I dislike (dislike, not hate) most has to be a shortened version of Prisoner of Zenda by Anthony Hope. Not that the story itself wasn't interesting, but it is the language that's annoying. Old style English gone replaced by everyday language, plus the actions are minimum. We're 15 years old and we have to read a seventy pages plus novel (extremely simple English)! My seven year old cousin should be the one reading it. Still, I have to finish the novel for Lit. Sigh.

P.S. Do you think I should buy Wither (Lauren DeStefano) or Divergent (Veronica Roth) or Red Glove (Holly Black)? Pick one 'cause my budget's limited.

       ...

       ...

       ...

Yup. Shocked into total silence. And then a long stream of stammer. "Oh Rob, you...you're...the...the mos...most...".

This week's question:

Genre Wars! What's your favorite genre and which book in that genre made it your favorite?

My favorite genre... Has to be YA! My first English (300 pages plus) novel is YA and I had fallen in love ever since. Fave book(s) - The Night World series by L. J Smith. First book(series) I came into contact too. And I'm starting to like dystopian, a result of reading The Hunger Games.
      Have a happy weekend!
